Acne food scanner apps compared

SpotBite vs Glora vs NutriSkin vs Scout vs Skinsign vs DermaDiet vs AcneTrack vs FoodSkin AI · Updated 30 August 2026

Disclosure and method. We make SpotBite. Everything about other apps below comes from their public App Store / Google Play listings and websites as of August 2026 — not from a full paid test of each one. Apps change fast; if we got something wrong, email [email protected] and we will fix it.

The short version

“Acne food scanner” now means several different things. Some apps scan a photo of a cooked meal. Some scan a barcode or ingredient label on packaged food. Some scan your face and add food as a side feature. Pick by what you actually eat and what you want to learn:

Where SpotBite is different

1. It shows the glycemic index

Glycemic load is the diet factor with the strongest research link to acne — it is the only one with randomized trials showing improvement (studies). As of August 2026 we could not find another acne food app that shows a GI estimate for the meal. SpotBite puts it next to the score.

2. The score explains itself, and you can edit it

A single “45/100” does not tell you what to change. SpotBite shows how many points came from sugar, dairy and inflammation, and lets you toggle ingredients (“what if I skip the cheese?”) with the score updating on your phone, instantly, without another AI call.

3. It tracks the delay

Diet breakouts show up 3 to 7 days after the meal. SpotBite keeps each meal active for the days it is likely to show and builds a 30-day pattern calendar from that. Several apps say they “find correlations”; we publish the model we use and the studies behind it.

4. Cooked meals, not just barcodes

Barcode scanners are precise for packaged food, but a salad, a rice bowl, a curry or an acai bowl has no barcode. SpotBite scores a photo of the plate.

5. On-device privacy, no account

Your scans, scores and skin log stay on your phone. A downscaled photo goes to the AI to read ingredients and is not stored. There is no sign-up.
